24th – Sunday thoughts

Career - sunday thougths

Sunday is quite a nice day actually, yes it’s the end of the week – but it is an amazing day to reflect on & spread your thoughts. For this post, I will simply reflect on my life & what’s going thru’ my head. Which can be a lot sometimes.

The first thing that crosses my mind is my career. Yes, I like where I work now – but I feel that, for next year I want to take a new step. I work as a public accountant and I like it. I like numbers and have ‘control’. Today I work at a medium sized firm (By norwegian standards) as I’ve mentioned before.

I was thinking at first to move to another firm, that’s much bigger in size and still work as a public accountant e.g. PwC or Deloitte ‘size’. I like what I work with so it would be nice to work with it at a higher level. Basically do the same thing as I do today but at a higher level.

I am also thinking about changing job as a public accountant to internal accountant at a bigger firm. I feel that’s a natrual progression in mine area of work. Today I basically make sure that a firm’s income and expenses is ‘correct’ but I do not have any influence over the different firms decisions e.g. What to buy, talking to their suppliers and so on. It would be nice to work as an internal accountant and climb the ladder in X firm.

The final thought I have at this area is to work as a consultant. As you probably have understood so far, I want to work at a bigger firm – the same yields for this. It was actually Cypress that put this brilliant idea in my head. Working as a consultant at the start of your career is an excellent start. You work with many different projects, learn very many new things, and it’s a great place to build a network at. If I could consult different firms about bookeeping, tax questions etc. I would be very happy to do that.

At the end of the day, I know I want to work at a bigger firm but the position itself is hard to determine. I don’t have anymore thoughts on this sunday 🙂 Thank you for reading & have a good rest of the day.
